hey y'all

it has been a while since I've posted here.
All is going very well..
we've made a few friends, got ourselves a couple mouse catchers.. easier name is cats.
they are called Thelma en Louise.
and as they are still very young.. THEY RUIN MY CHRISTMASTREE..
thank God I didn't hang the glas ornaments in..
it ia all plastic this time..

besides the cats I have a partime job babysitting a little one year old boy twice a week..and we're doing great together.
the winter now really started..it is freakin' cold. -20c seems to get normal..bah
and snow ..yes snow enough..roads aren't that bad, am happy with that.

the dogs really really LOVE this weather, they seem to be running and never get tired..they think
rolling and running in the snow..playing like crazy
it is great.

got some nice winterpictures but as I still have that really slow internet here I just give ya the link to my Dutch blogspot.

hey there...our new home

Hi all,

last weekend we've been looking at our new rental home and it is great.
It needs some cleaning but that's no problem.
the house has 5 bedrooms 2 bathrooms a large living room and kitchen and a large basement..
it really is a cute house with lost of possibilities...
even the dogs loved it,..
guess thats because of the squirrels (what ever that is spelt like)

Here a new update again..
pretty quick after the other one I know..

Lets see..
I finally did my written test and past the second time.
the first time for some reason I was very nervous en had a lot of problems reading the questions..
I just didn't really get what was asked so the first time I failed with having only 23 questions answered...
Went back home read the complete book again and did a new exam the day after and past with only 2 questions wrong..not bad for a Dutch hey..
the only thing I don't like is that I had to surrender my Dutch drivers license though they had to ask..OK this is Dutch but from what country is that...yeah right...
So now I am not allowed to drive my new lovely car untill I have past my roadtest..in about 3 weeks..
Got myself a new car..a 2001 chevy tahoe 4x4 with all the luxury you can think off..very cool...
And a new BBQ you just have to have out here..

And I think we're going to move in about 2 week to another house way bigger and way more space around the house..so we don't have to walk the dogs in the offleash park anymore..
No more fights with other male dogs..
Gerard is off to work again had to start at 4 am.. idiotic times that are.. who on earth starts working in the middle of the night..

I know it has been a while

Hey everybody,

I know it has been a while since I posted here.
After we've been to the Rocky Mountains we had to get Gerard his Canadian drivers license.. and I have to say to start all over again is a struggle. He has been a truckdriver for 18 years now and has his car license 20 years now he had to start from scratch again..
with the written test and getting his learners class 7 wait 2 weeks then do the roadtest..
poor boy failed the first roadtest but I think that was more because there is so much hanging on that..his new job is waiting for him to get his license..But he was lucky and past 2 days later.
Now he is doing a lot of courses to get on the road. I think that will be next week..
He even has been to MooseJaw to get some lessons...

And for me well It has been a long time being together and I have to say it is kinda hard the first few days being alone again..
thats when you realize you can't go to friends for a cup of coffee..
man i missed that.
But I had a good time driving around exploring the area and walking the dogs..
talking to some friends here and talking with mom and dad on msn..
using the webcam is so much fun and makes it easier to be so far from Holland.
Last weekend we were invited for a BBQ by a collegue.. The people there all arrived about a year ago to Canada from the UK and a couple from South Africa..
We did have a good time and the best part is they all know what we have to go through.
They all offered their help and friendship. that's very kind of them and we certainly wil use their knowledge.. don't have to invent the wheel again right..

now today I came acros something that made me realize I can't do a thing here the first year.. I know I am not allowed to work,, ( hate that big time). I did have some offers for work but it is a bit dangerous to accept them.. I didn't come here to get kicked out again did we.
But I studied a bit for my own drivers license..yes I gotta start from schratch too..and wanted to take the written one today but couldn't do it..cause they didn't allow the copy I made of Gerards workpermit.. they want to make a copy themselves..damnit I did so well made sure I had copies over everything even official translations of our marriage certificate and my driverslicense..
ohh and they didn't believe I live here so I need to show them a bill or something..
great..got back home without a written test..
oh and when I pass that one I can't drive for 2 weeks or so cause they take my Dutch lisence..

Ahh well all takes time and I think I have to surrender to that..
I don't wanna be patient..I never was and now I have too...
I will survive
and in the end my ROCK AND ROLL DREAM COME THROUGH..
right Meat..

now I gotta go to Edmonton pick up Gerard from work..
I'll give this blog an other update soon..there are a few more things I want to say..

Hi there,

It has been a while after giving a update on our moving and progressions but here I am again
We’re still having great (almost too hot to do something) weather.
Last Saturday Gerard me and the dogs were invited to go to a cabin of Martin and Glenda’s friends by Steve their son. It was great. It is next to Wizard Lake. We met some more people here. After having a BBQ we went on their boat for a ride in a tube and on the boat itself. As we hadn’t done that before at all we had a blast. The water is really warm. The dogs did have a wonderful evening and were playing with the kids of Kyle and his wife what also is the daughter of Martin and Glenda. The dogs behaved wonderfully and the kids just adore them. Their youngest kid of 3 years old was actually walking Bo.(Bo is way bigger but he actually listened a bit to her..)
Steve brought a birthday cake with him for me. That was very touching and at the campfire all started to sing for me. It ready was fantastic to see all being so friendly and interested and well just great.

We are still looking for another rental home because the one we’re in now is temporarily. Hopefully we will find a nice place in the fields with a few acres to let the dog run freely did buy ourselves a Chevy venture in the first week and got all things ready to have it insured etc.
All the things that are easy in Holland cause you know where to go. Have to thank Sandra the woman who sold us the Chevy for helping us out with the insurance and the registry. All went very smooth. The only things that aren’t going like we want it to be is the land phone line from TELUS... They actually told us in one of the not all to friendly conversations that they were making stories up.
We are trying to get a landline for over 2 weeks now and for some reason it seems to be very hard and the guys from TELUS keep promising that all will be OK in 2 days... OK I know we have to be patient but they don’t care if you want to make a phone call to Holland or not..
The other thing that doesn’t really go like we want is. For Gerard getting his Canadian drivers license. He has to start all over from scratch again. All his experience doesn’t count here..So he got his theory exam already and next week he has to do his practical part I believe. I can say compared to the Dutch way of learning to drive a car truck or what so ever…it look like they give a license away with a pack of cookies ..But all takes time and all takes money. We just have to get through it and be patient.

I do hope we will have a few days without having to go anywhere because in those days I want to go into the mountains with the dogs and have some fun at a lake..
We met a few other people today at the Church. A few of them are truck drivers and told Gerard a bit about it. And a couple actually offered us a bit of work in the time we’re waiting for Gerard to get to work at Westcan . He can drive the tractor..and I could too if I want to..so we don’t have to be bored at all..
Well that’s about it for now..

finally

Ok we're in Canada already for 2 weeks .
And we've been really busy getting things started.
We have a nice rental place at the moment. but we're looking for something more in the fields so we can leave the door open and the dogs will have a great time outside.
But something just don't work as easy as we hoped for.. like a internet connection or cable TV or even a home telephone line seems to be hard to connect..and that is just cause of the companies that should fix it..
the weather out here is grreat and we 're having a good time

will update more as soon as we do have a internet connection..

yeah right

5th of July
a big day..we're going to Canada.
Everything is packed. 2 vans filled with suitcases, guitars and dogs.
We said goodbye to Gerards granddad and dad..
during the trip we did have a bit of delay caused by trafficjams..
But we did make it intime to Schiphol airport.
after waiting at the check in desk for a while it was our turn to check in the things we have with us.
Guess what the lady said behind the desk.
SORRY BUT THE FLIGHT HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR 24 HOURS.

Well I can tell you...That's just what you need on a day like this..crap..
She gave us a choice . stay at a hotel in the area or go home.
us staying in the area wasn't really an option in our case.
We have all the family with us and now we'd rather stay an extra night with them instead of the hotel.
Plus where would we wanna keep all our luggage..say.. 2 dogkennels bigsized.. 4 suitcases each 23 kg one pack with 2 guitars and offcourse the dogs....
so we went back home and we'll start our adventure to Canada over again tomorrow..

we're really excited.. our house is sold..
working on getting everything done here..
getting the required documents for immigration.

man there's a lot of work to do..
sometimes i just don't know how to feel..
stressed get everything done in time..angry cause of government things and the time they take .
and happy we are doing this together and we will really go.
think the realization will kick in later when we're in Canada for a few months..
ahh well

hey I'm back

a little update

we will have some people to take a look at our house today..
we've had about 8 already but now we do all things with a real estate agent.
that makes it a lot easier for us now.
but I have to say it is getting on my nerve already..last little things to be painted..just for the good look.and cleaning..ohh man I have to say I hate that..specially when it has to be this clean for some possible buyers..
well if anyone is willing to start with an offer and will eventually buy the house I am happy with it and it would be worth all of the effort we've put into it.
have to sa it hurts a little to sell a beautiful house like this.i really start to love it..although I didn't when we bought it..but now with everything done after 7 years it is finished and I love it..
ironically we're selling it now..
well it is for our own future.
A new future. and now when times goes by I mm WE are really looking forward to leaving Holland even with mom and dad and sister who will stay here. Think the thing I have with all of the family is really hard to deal with specially when we're out there about 9 hours and more away from them..
on the other hand.. I think it is a great thing to actually start a new and own life ..together..

will keep ya all up to date when I have more info..

for now fingers crossed for the few people who come to see the house..

Meat tickets.

I had so much fun this week.
on radio veronica they had a contest . if you instand message the right answer about Meat Loaf you'd get 2 tickets for his show in Amsterdam. SO I did
and guess what ..they phoned me back.
whoohoo..
never thought I'd be so lucky to actualy win something on one of the large national radiostations.
that feeling alone already is great.

I don't know if I will be able to go to that wonderfl show yet.
becasue the date is 27th june and if everything goes great with selling the house..we might be leaving early June. And all I can tell you at the moment is that there are a few couples that seem to be interested in our house..but no one offered me something yet.
God I'd hate the idea of missing this show. Specially now with the free tickets..
so I have to wait and see what wil come..being patient isn't one of my strongest things..
